Chinese Ginger Chicken

This Chinese Ginger Chicken stir fry goes great alongside a warm bowl of Jasmine rice and can be made in less than 20 minutes. You can use just about any type of vegetable also, today I choose celery!

This recipe calls for a fair amount of celery, and is gluten free. However you can add other fresh vegetables if you prefer.

Such as diced carrots, snow peas, broccoli etc.

I have tried many different vegetable varieties and really am fond of using just celery for this dish. While my partner much prefers it with red and green peppers, to each their own.

Also it’s very important to use fresh ginger, the fresher the better. If you do not have that on hand you can use powdered however it’s just not as good.

Also it’s best to use a wok or  frying pan to make this, besides that there really is no special technique to this dish.

You are just simply making the sauce, prepare the vegetables and chicken and you’re good to go.

Healthy and easy chinese food can be made at home any night of the week.

So get out your chopsticks prepare some rice on the side and enjoy fresh homemade chinese at home 🙂

Chinese Fried Rice Restaurant Style Recipe

This Chinese fried rice restaurant style recipe is super simple to make and an inexpensive option to takeout. The trick to making the rice like something you would order as takeout is to cook the rice the day prior.

Try serving this rice alongside some Black Pepper Shrimp or Asian Chicken Drumsticks to make it a full meal.

Chinese fried rice restaurant style is made with scrambled eggs and a few frozen vegetables that also make it very traditional.

You can make it spicy too by adding either some red chili paste or red pepper flakes. This recipe is one of my go to takeout inspired recipes to make at home.

HOW TO MAKE Chinese fried rice restaurant style

The trick to making GOOD Chinese fried rice is to cook the rice the day prior. I like to cook my rice always in a “rice cooker” it cooks it just perfectly every time.

Then I will remove it from the rice cooker and leave it uncovered for 24 hours on the shelf. In which I will use for the next day, to make this recipe.

Leaving it on the shelf for 24 hours allows it to dry out enough to make the most perfect fried rice.

Then when your ready to make the rice you will simply add the cooking oil to the pan and then dump the rice out frying it till it reaches the level of crispiness you desire.

Once it has you then can remove the rice, add then place 1 tbsp of sesame oil back into the pan along with the eggs to scramble.

Once the eggs have scrambled, add back in the rice and mix well.

Add in the seasonings and sauté all together on medium to low heat for another 5 minutes and serve. That’s it Chinese egg fried rice is ready to enjoy!

Feel free to sauté some chicken, shrimp or beef on the side and mix that in if desired.

Your going to want to pull out the chop sticks for this one.

WHAT IS PEPPER SHRIMP

Black Pepper Shrimp is a popular Chinese dish that is made with shrimp and a mixture of vegetables that is typically served with rice or on it’s own. It has a special sauce that it is made in, which makes it super tasty!

In which I will share with you below in the recipe card!

This dish is made in our home often and is definitely up there on our list of favorite Asian dishes.

You can make this in a large non stick skillet or wok, since the whole dish comes together in under 15 minutes you really can skip the take-out tonight with this one.

So what are you waiting for? By the time you dial up your local restaurant, you can have this delicious and authentic Black Pepper Shrimp stir fry on the table in no time.

You can always add fresh calamari to this dish as well if you’d like. And if your really feeling bold, go ahead a throw a chicken breast in too.

The only real difference from this dish and those served in the restaurants is that this typically arrives to the table on a hot sizzling hot plate.

And unlike my other black pepper recipe on this blog, we do not have to tenderize anything so that step is omitted here.

We hardly ever order this dish from the restaurant anymore, because mine is better. That is unless we know the restaurant well and know they make it just as good.

Plus by eating this type of dish, you never have to feel guilty by overindulging. Because this is a super healthy meal that is packed full nutrients and contains should no msgs. Just make sure the soya sauce you use says that on the label and you will be in business.

I like to serve this with jasmine rice on the side and will use a mini rice cooker to cook the rice. Just set it ahead of time and it will be ready when the dish is completed.

I hope you give it a try there really isn’t much too it!

And stay tuned to this blog for more Healthy Chinese Recipes to come in the following months 🙂

Steamed Frozen Pork Buns (Baozi) Recipe

These Steamed Frozen Pork Buns (Baozi) Recipe is quick and easy to make as they are pre-made Chinese buns that are steamed for just 10 minutes prior to serving.

I picked up these Frozen Pork Buns at my local Chinese grocery store last week and steamed them in a traditional steamer. Over a hot pot of boiling water for 10 minutes till done.

I first tried these buns many years ago in Vancouver at the time and I feel in love with them immediately. They are a bit sweet but also savory.

If you know me, I much prefer spicy food or savory to sweet.

But there is something about this recipe that changes that for me every time I have a taste.

I now pick them up in the freezer isle at my local Chinese grocery and make them in the comfort of my own home.

There a great snack food, or you can just have a bunch for lunch and serve them along your favorite vegetable to make it a meal.

How To Make Steamed Frozen Pork Buns

  • First off you will want to purchase a Bamboo steamer
  • Then you want to have a bag of frozen pork buns (do not defrost them)
  • Next, bring a small pot of water to a boil and reduce to a low boil
  • Place the buns in the Bamboo Steamer and steam for 10 minutes with the buns inside over the pot of boiling water.
  • Serve fresh!

WHAT TO SERVE WTIH BAOZI

  • Vegetables
  • Dumplings
  • Soup
  • Or other Dim Sum recipes
