Easy New York Steak Recipe

This Easy New York Steak Recipe is marinated in the best steak sauce and is ready in less than 15 minutes.

My easy New York strip steak recipe is the Perfect date night recipe if you ask me. I mean you could always go to an expensive steakhouse and order something similar to this dish and pay triple the price. I’d prefer to make it at home for a lot less and have extra money to splurge on whatever else.

If you’re looking for a great steak recipe but one that is a bit different than the average butter and herb recipe then you probably just found it! Looking for a side dish? Try my Sauteed Asparagus

IS NEW YORK STEAK TENDER

Not really it has a bit of a chew. However, if you want it very tender you simply need to marinade it in the fridge the night before.

HOW TO MAKE A NEW YORK STEAK TENDER

  • Be sure to season it on both sides with salt, this is the first step to ensure it becomes restaurant quality tender.

HOW MARINATE NEW YOTK STEAK

  • Marinade it overnight in a Ziplock bag with your favorite steak marinade

EASY STEAK MARINADE

I like to use the Keg Steakhouse & Bar Marinade = Delicious!

This marinade will make your steak so moist and delicious.

This steak can be served rare, medium rare or medium well done.

WHY ARE NEW YORK STEAKS SO GOOD

  • The trick to cooking the best steak is to use ample butter, you are going to be searing the steak while it cooks.
  • Then the second trick is to season the steak generously on both sides prior to cooking with salt and pepper.
  • Then if you are using a marinade like I have here, you will want brush both sides of the steak prior to searing.
  • If you follow those three tips you are sure to prepare the best KEG steaks.

NEW YORK STRIP STEAK CALORIES

  • Average strip steak is 120 calories per 100 grams

WHAT TO SERVE WITH A NEW YOTK STRIP STEAK

Any vegetable really will go, I love to pair it with sauteed or grilled asparagus.

You can also serve with potatoes and or rice as another side dish.

WHAT IS A NEW YORK STEAK CUT

It’s a cut from the beef short loin, right behind the rib area of the cow.

HOW TO COOK A NEW YORK STRIP STEAK ON STOVE

Steak cooking times vary based on the cut: Always cook your steak over medium-high heat, searing it on each side only once. Turning the steak often sometimes leads to a overcooked and tough steak.

  • Sirloin Steak: Cook for 6 minutes on one side and 4-5 on the other for a medium rare steak. Up the cooking time by one minute to have a medium steak.
  • Ribeye: Cook for 5 minutes on one side and 3 on the other for a medium rare steak
  • Fillet or Strip: Cook for 4 minutes on one side and 3 on the other for a medium rare steak
  • T-Bone: Cook for 8 minutes on one side and 4-5 on the other for a medium rare steak

If you don’t have strip steak then you can always use ribeye or t-bone if you like in replace of strip. Just take note of the different cooking times as I will explain more below.

Looking for a “Rosemary Butter Steak Recipe”? for another time.

You will find that recipe at the very bottom of this post.

DOES NEW YORK STEAK HAVE A LOT OF FAT

No, it is rather a medium lean steak.

DOES NEW YORK STEAK HAVE A BONE

Not typically as is cut from the beef short loin, however it can have in some products.

ARE NEW YORK STEAK BONES OK FOR DOGS

I would say no and I have always had LARGE very LARGE dogs! They can splinter and also can be major chocking hazards. It is best to go to your local butcher and buy RAW KNUCKLE BONES OR MARROW BONES for your dog. Also never give your dog one of these bones that has sharp edges and be sure it is much larger than your dogs mouth to ensure it cannot be swallowed.

What is your favorite cut of steak? and seasoning mixture? I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

So what are you waiting for?

Skip the takeout tonight and make this quick and easy dish right in the comfort of your own home.

Something to be savored!

Some people like to use one can of coconut for their Thai curries. I will do that at times too, however for this recipe I used two cans of light coconut milk which helps to make this dish go father and serves more people.

One can typically serves two people for dinner, two can’s can serve three. Being I adore Thai food, I will eat it all to myself if I can.

Another reason I like to use light coconut milk is because it’s healthier and being that I eat this dish almost every other week. It works well for me!

However if your wanting a thicker sauce, you can use full fat coconut milk. Both work really good in this recipe and is something I do use at times.

Before you know it you will be a TOP CHEF in your kitchen, cooking Thai dishes like a Pro.

WHAT GOES WITH GREEN THAI CURRY

  • Jasmine Rice
  • Vermicelli Rice

If you love Thai food as much as me, then you will want to try my other thai dishes! All are AMAZING and really are some of the best ways to make Thai at home in a fraction of the time.

Note: Want more heat, simply add in more Thai Green Curry Paste.

Best Chicken Tortellini Soup

This Best Chicken Tortellini Soup has fresh asparagus along with kale it it. It is one of those soups that you will want to make a big old pot of and enjoy over a few days

If your craving a soup to warm you up, but also want a hearty meal. Then this Soup is sure to hit the spot! Not only does it tastes good it is also very healthy for you.

WHAT IS CHICKEN TORTELLINI SOUP

The reason I call this tortellini soup the best, is because it is! Yes, I know it’s not traditional to put asparagus and kale in this type of soup. And i’m aware that most of these types of recipes call for carrots.

But for me I much prefer these veggies!! Don’t you?

You can also replace the kale with spinach if desired. What I like most about making this soup is that it can be enjoyed over a few days. Because it keeps very well in the fridge and even tastes better the second day!

CAN YOU FREEZE CHICKEN TORTELLINI SOUP

Yes, up to three months!

Absolutely delicious!

I have always loved chicken noodle soup, however it is nice to try different versions of it now and again, right?

This soup is allot like Chicken Noodle soup, but we are omitting the noodles and carrots and uses tortellini along with kale and asparagus instead.

It’s pretty similar to allot of those other Chicken Tortellini soup recipes, however mine uses more vegetables and is more on the healthy side.

What makes the soup creamy is the mixture of the chicken stock, cream and parmesan cheese. Some recipes will have you using all cream and of course that will make it ultra creamy. However for this soup I wanted it to be lower in fat and also stay true to a chicken noodle type soup base.

Such a fantastic soup to have simmering on the stovetop when your not feeling so great or heck even when you are.

I like to use better than bouillon chicken stock when making most of my soups. So I will mix just the right amount of that with water for the stock.

Plus using mostly stock vs cream really helps to make this soup super creamy without all the extra fat. Of course you can use whatever chicken stock you have on hand, just be sure it is not laddled with to much salt.

Also, you will want to allow the asparagus to simmer for a least 15 minutes along with the chicken to ensure both are super tender prior to adding the tortellini and kale.

If you are planning to enjoy this soup over a couple of days, then you will want to add one more cup of chicken stock as well, since the tortellini tends to soak it up overnight.

I really like to use “Herb Chicken Tortellini” for this recipe. However you can use whatever brand you like most. Also if you want a little heat to this soup then I would recommend adding in a pinch of red pepper flakes.

Also keep in mind, as with all my recipes.

If you want to make more or less of this soup, simple adjust the serving size in the ingredients section above and the servings will automatically adjust for you. This soup can store in the fridge for up to 3 days and or freeze for up to 3 months.

One Pan Lemon Herb Chicken and Asparagus

I’m sharing with you today another “One pan/Meal prep” recipe. This one for Lemon Herb Chicken and Asparagus and it can be ready in under 30 minutes.

So if you’re looking for a healthy and satisfying dinner recipe tonight and or some meal prep inspiration for the next few days. Then this recipe is sure to get you excited!

I sometimes will make two sheet pans and eat this all week long PLUS freeze a few meal preps too for my lunches. Simple and easy to make, you literally can have four separate meals here or double up the recipe and have enough for eight.

It don’t get any healthy and easier than this guys! Everyone seems to be looking for gluten free recipes these days, so I recommend adding rice as a gluten free side to this recipe. Yes, all rice (in its natural form) is gluten-free.

However if your not on such a diet, feel free to add baked potatoes or enjoy as is. I found a little inspiration for this recipe from another blogger over at Cooking Classy she made a similar one pan recipe that I love too. I encourage you to try more one pan meals yourself, you won’t regret it!

Be sure to slice your chicken breasts prior to cooking, you will want them to marinate them in the fridge prior to cooking for a minimum of one hour, this really helps to enhance the chicken and makes it extra delicious.

Also there is a secret ingredient in this recipe, and that is in the seasoning which you can find below in my amazon favorites for this recipe. It’s called “Szeged Chicken Rub” if you have not tried this seasoning I definitely encourage you to give it a try.

With this recipe, you can have dinner for two and pack 2 meal prep meals for later. Wanting to feed more people, or have more meal preps? Simply double the recipe up and use two pans, easy enough eh?

Now get ready for my favorite oven baked lemon chicken and asparagus recipe, this is sure to knock your socks off. Who knew that healthy eating could taste so good!! I hope you give my recipe a try and let me know what you think… and let me know if you could you skip the take out and eat these meal preps more often?

Juicy, tasty and very healthy baked chicken!

MEAL PREP IDEA: Simply, store the leftovers in a few meal prep bowls in the fridge to take on the go with you. Or make enough to create a few meal preps bowls for the week ahead.

Recipe makes four healthy Meal Preps! Double it up for more if desired.

Authentic Thai Red Curry Recipe

This Authentic Thai Red Curry Recipe also has orange peppers and asparagus in it and is absolutely delicious!

This recipe is authentic because it has all the elements of a Red Thai Curry that you would find in your favorite Thai restaurant.

Now, your probably saying to yourself! Asparagus is not an authentic thai vegetable. And you would be right!

But the orange pepper is, so that mean’s you can omit the asparagus “but why would you” its delicious!

And use more peppers instead, such as yellow peppers.

I felt like experimenting a little today and so instead using just peppers, I added the asparagus!

Being I adore Thai food, I had 3 bowls to myself this time so it worked out.

Over the course of two days that is and my partner had one the night I made it for dinner.

AUTHENTIC RED THAI CURRY

Is made up of a quality thick coconut milk and ingredaints such a“Kaffir lime leaves”, Lemongrass”, and “Galangal” among other special Thai spices.

Finding these ingredients can be hard if your in North America, so buying a pre-made paste is ideal.

That is because we are using a product that contains all those Thai ingredients already in it.

Such a the one you will see below and is the only brand I will use. It is the best I have found, others are either to sweet or to spicy!

The ONLY brand I will use!!

How to Make Authentic Thai Red Curry Recipe

  • Start by washing and cutting up your vegetables and slice all according to the size you want.
  • Wash the chicken breasts, and slice them into thin pieces.
  • In pot, wok or pan, heat up the oil on medium high and in your “RED THAI CURRY PASTE” saute for 2 minutes till blended.
  • Next add in the coconut milk and cook for another 2 minutes on medium-high.
  • Add in your ginger/garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes all together.
  • Next add in the Chicken and allow it to simmer all together on medium-high for 10 minutes.
  • Then add in your fish sauce, and simmer for another 2 minutes over low heat.
  • Add your remaining vegetables. “Asparagus first” then the “Orange Bell Pepper” cook to tender around 6 minutes over medium heat.
  • Serve with fresh lime juice and a sprig of fresh basil over jasmine rice if desired.

The nice thing about cooking Red Thai curry is how simple it really is. I’m confident that when you prepare it once, you will then have all the necessary ingredients and know how to prepare it again.

Before you know it you will be a TOP CHEF in your kitchen, cooking Thai dishes like a Pro.

So you have two options when preparing this dish, either you can make the Red Thai Curry from scratch with the traditional Thai ingredients.

By crushing it all together in a mortar or you can buy the premade “Red Thai Curry Paste” which has all this in the paste, and is much easier.

This is the method we recommend, as it’s much easier. We hope you give it a try,  and let us know how it turned out for you

To make this popular curry you will want to get your hands on some fresh “Lemongrass”, “Galangal” and “Kaffir lime leaves” which can be found in most Asian stores.

Or purchase the pre made “Thai Red Curry Paste” which can also be found in most Supermarkets, Thai Red Curry paste has all the above ingredients in it needed to make this dish.

Then you will want to add in the lime last, you do not want to cook the lime because it will ruin the flavor.

Also if using fresh “Lemongrass”, “Galangal” and “Kaffir lime leaves” you will want to remove it before consuming the curry.

Want more heat, simply add in some Thai Bird’s eye chilies or Thai Chili Paste. Caution when preparing Bird’s Eye Chilies, these chilies are very hot and can burn the eyes.

Note: Want more heat, simply add in more Thai Red Curry Paste.
