CHERRY SLUSHIES

These Cherry Slushies are refreshing and make for a festive Canada day long weekend drink when the cherries are in season.

I like to make these Cherry Slushies every year, along with these other homemade drinks. Such as Healthy Raspberry Sweet Tea, Iced Raspberry Hibiscus tea or some Dandelion Iced tea.

This cherry slushies recipe was inspired by one of my favorite holidays “Canada Day ” so here is to you Canada.

Happy Birthday Canada!

I like to spoil my family and friends with these Cherry Slushies whenever they come over with these during the summer time.

Summer is right around the corner and that means fresh fruit! And though I love all the four seasons we have here in Canada, I truly love Summer most of all.

And that is because the food is just that much better since it’s all fresh and mostly local!

I truly believe we all play a part in aiding in that. So the more we can by local and organic foods the better the food will be for all of us for generations to come.  Don’t you agree?

HOW TO MAKE CHERRY SLUSHIE

  • All you will need to make these healthy and fruity slushies are some fresh or frozen cherries, frozen concentrated cranberry juice, fresh mint leaves and sprite.

Just keep in mind you that if you are using frozen cherries then you will omit the ice cubes which will save yourself time on the pitting part.

But if you can get fresh cherries, why not use them.

DO CHERRY SLUSHIES HAVE CAFFEINE

Not these slushies, however if your making it with say a soda stream and that syrup then it might.

If you have one of those soda streams you can replace the sprite with one of those beverages too.

The mint gives it that something extra special, so be sure not to skip on it.

Red Velvet Parfaits

Hello friends, Canada day is just right around the corner and i’m so excited!!

This is by far my favorite time of year, people are out and about enjoying the nicer weather and community events are happening everywhere.

And the biggest celebration of the year besides New Years is about to happen. I wanted to create something special for my guests that are coming over in the next few days.

So I decided to take the typically a red velvet cake to a new level and created four of these decadent red velvet parfaits that highlight the red and white colours of our flag.

These parfaits are just perfect for Canada day, however they can also be made for Valentines day to.  A super simple to make dessert that is sure to impress any guests you may be serving this too.

To make this you will want to start by washing and putting the cherries.

Once that is done you will want to bake the cake, cool it and cube it.

You can prepare the Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting by whipping the whipped cream to stiff peaks.

Then in another bowl make the cream cheese frosting.

Once those two have been whisked you will fold both the mixtures together which will create the most tasty Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting that will be placed into the parfits.

Fresh lambert cherries, red velvet cake and a decadent whipped cream cheese frosting is what makes these so special.

I used a easy to bake red velvet cake mix where i just added eggs, water and oil. Of course you can make your red velvet from scratch if you have a favorite one in mind.
