Pair those with some Spirulina powder is a super green food, and your breakfast routine will be packed full of all the nutrients you need for the day! That is why I call this smoothie, Cherry Berry Magic Smoothie” it really is that good for you.  I have been making this smoothie for my breakfasts for the past couple of years, and it gives me just the right amount of energy I need to start off my day, while keeping me super healthy.

So how can this shake benefit you? Well Cherries are packed with vitamin C, which is needed to build collagen your skin’s natural wrinkle prevention thus slowing down the aging process. Cherries are also loaded with Queritrin, a flavonoid believed to be one of the most potent anticancer agents. And blueberries? these guys are ranked the number 1 in antioxidants. Just one cup has 13,427 total antioxidants, vitamins A & C, plus flavonoids. That’s about 10 times the USDA’s recommendation, in just one cup! Then be sure to add your favorite protein powder also to this drink if your wanting to use it as a meal replacement in the mornings. I use “Spirulina” which is packed full of protein. So what is Spirulina?

Spirulina is a magical plant that comes from blue -green algae, that is found in warm fresh waters. And contains significant amounts of calcium, niacin, potassium, magnesium, B vitamins and iron. Which reinforces our immune systems and helps control high blood pressure and cholesterol, thus giving us the ultimate protection from cancers. I like to buy the organic variety that is grown in Hawaii, I trust the brand and have been using if for years. I also like to add chia seeds too, because they are super rich in nutrients such as fiber, iron, and calcium and Omega-3 fatty acids. I hope you give this powerhouse of a shake a try, you won’t regret it.

Blueberry Frozen Yogurt

Ohhhh Blueberries i love you. I must admit, when i was a kid i hated fruit. But now that i am an adult i love it. Maybe it is because almost all my desserts are made with it!! Or maybe its because i finally have found an excuse to eat frozen yogurt and ice-cream more often. When making Frozen Yogurt i often choose one with a fruit base, and this is certainly one of my favorites. Plus it’s super easy to make and is so healthy for you its very hard for my guests to say NO to even if on a diet. Because once i tell them whats in it and that Blueberries are the King of Antioxidants, which are packed full of fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin C, vitamin B6 and more there sold. And for me its more than enough reasons alone to eat this every night.

Kitchen Essentials:

To make 2 quarts of Blueberry Frozen Yogurt:

  1. Add your frozen blueberries to your food processor, pulse till blended.
  2. Now lets make the frozen yogurt base, start by adding your cold yogurt, milk, condensed milk, lime juice and blueberries into a large bowl and mix with a spatula till blended.
  3. Once your mixture is blended, pour the mixture into your frozen Cuisinart maker and process for 25 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Now comes the fun part, grab a large plastic container will a lid (you will be using this to freeze your frozen yogurt in) after letting it sit for 30 mins in the (Cuisinart machine which makes it easier to remove) then you can start by pouring all of your frozen yogurt mixture in your container.
  5. Freeze for 2 hours and serve.
  6. Before scooping, enjoy!

If you don’t have an Cuisinart frozen yogurt maker, check this post out

Note: Set outside the freezer 10-20 minutes prior to scooping.

Blueberry Avocado Breakfast Smoothie

Here is another one of my favorite breakfast smoothies. What you will need to make this healthy breakfast smoothie is some unsweetened almond milk, frozen blueberries, a ripe avocado, prune yogurt, and a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder.

The prune yogurt gives it that sweet smooth texture so don’t skip it. This recipe makes enough for 2 medium sized smoothies.

Start drinking this for breakfast every morning and watch your energy skyrocket and health improve. Save the bacon and eggs for those lazy weekends, everything in moderation is key to helping you feel your best.

Note: You can add other fruits if you desire.

Frozen Blueberry Mojitos

I like to give my readers options when preparing my recipes. So that is why i sometimes provide two ways to preparing a item, such as with Delicious and healthy Mojito. Jay and i hardly ever put sugar or sweetener in our Mojitos, and that is because we put more fruit and tonic water in it which sweetness it up perfectly. You can make this with or without the alcohol too, totally up to you. If the sugar from the fruit and soda is not enough for you, then feel free to add a flavored syrup of your liking or 2 tsp of sugar. Also you can use club soda in replace of the tonic water, but it will be less sweet. Now sit back and enjoy the tastes from Havana, Cuba, where the birthplace of the Mojito originates. One story traces the Mojito to a similar 16th century drink known as “El Draque”, after Sir Francis Drake.

Kitchen Essentials:

To make the Blueberry Mojitos:

  1. Combine everything in the blender
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour, serve, enjoy!
