San Diego Safari Park Review

WHERE IS THE SAN DIEGO SAFARI PARK

If your ever in the San Diego, California area. Then I highly recommending visiting the San Diego Safari Park which is located in Escondido, Ca.

If your an animal lover then you are going to also feel very good about spending some time and money here. Because this park is not just a zoo it is a rescue and rehabilitation place for endangered animals.

This park is one of it’s kind in the World and is a must see for everyone young and old alike. The San Diego Zoo Safari Park, originally named the San Diego Wild Animal Park until 2010, is an 1,800 acre zoo in the San Pasqual Valley area of San Diego, California, near Escondido.

SAN DIEGO SAFARI PARK REVIEW

Why Go?

Because this is a once in a lifetime experience, where you can get up close and personal with some of the most beautiful yet endangered animals left on this planet. Where you can even go on a safari inside the park and experience the animals up close and personal.

You will learn about their keep and how you can play a part in preserving these precious animals natural habitat. You will feel so good once you leave, knowing more about animal conservation and efforts that are being made to preserve what is left.

Best time to go?

The best time in my option to go to the San Diego Safari Park would be sometime in between December and March, yes it is a bit colder. But as long as you come prepared you will enjoy less crowds and more of the animals will be out. To me that is a win win, if your their around the bustier summer months you will experience lots of sun but that comes with more crowds and more animals hiding out seeking the shade.

Top Things to do at the San Diego Safari Park

  • Roar and Snore

The San Diego Zoo offers a once in a lifetime experience for their guests to sleep outside in a yurt like tent next to the lions den. This event is offered only a select few times a year, so be sure to check out their website in advance if you want to book. You are offered three choices when it comes to accommodations, a hot delicious buffet style meal, a late night tour of the facilities and animals and a early morning hot breakfast that also comes with a morning tour on a trolly to see all the animals.

  • SAN DIEGO SAFARI PARK ZIPLINE

Not afraid of heights? Then the Flightline Safari is sure to be the highlight of your trip. As you soar 130 feet above the ground, with a spectacular bird’s-eye view of rhinos, giraffes, and other wildlife in the fields below you.

  • SAN DIEGO JUNGLE ROPE SAFARI

Do you have kids with you? Then you will want to check out the Jungle Rope Safari for sure.

Jungle Ropes Safari. Which offers a 90 minute adventures through the trees with 3 trails to choose from.

  • Cheetah Safari

The Cheetah Safari allows you to see a Cheetah up close and personal and you may even get to meet the dog that lives with her at the zoo. Such a cool experience that would be good for young and old to witness.

  • Caravan Safari

This was one of my favorite things to do, feel like your in Africa but never having to leave the continent was                   pretty cool. Their are several packages you can choose from when it comes to going on a https://www.sdzsafaripark.org/safari/caravan-safari    . The one hour package will take you into their African Safari park, where you will have a up close visit with Jiraphs, Rhinos and other african plain animals. And the two hour Safari will take you into the Asia Safari as well. I highly recommend doing the two hour safari, as the time goes by so fast and all the proceeds of the tickets goes to keeping these wild and mostly endangered animals safe cared for.

Restaurants:

We did not eat anywhere besides when we stayed overnight at the Roar and Snore, which offered a hot buffet for dinner and alcohol/drink of choice. Then a full breakfast the next day before the days events.

Where to Stay:

Personally we like to stay at air b and bs when we visit San Diego. Their are so many unique ones out their that offer all the comforts of home vs a hotel.

Spend a night at the Safari Park, sleeping next to the lions den in your own yurt. It is really affordable too, think you can send one extra night in your airbnb or use that money for this event.
