Kettle Valley Steam Railway

Kettle Valley Railway Train

All ABOARD!

If you happen to be in British Columbia’s interior this summer and are looking for an experience of a lifetime. Then I would highly recommended booking tickets on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway which was built during 1910- 1915, and stopped in 1989 do to shutdowns. Since then 10-kilometre section from Prairie Valley Station to Canyon View Siding has been restored. And is now up and running to the public, offering families an experience back in time. Last summer me and my partners family spend some time near Summerland, BC where this train still runs. And had the times of our lives, while learning about this historic place and train. “The Kettle Valley Steam Railway showcases a unique part of the Okanagan’s and British Columbia’s history” and you won’t regret booking yourself a ticket on this great outdoor adventure.

There are several types of rides available so make sure to look online first before going, you want to book the right ride in advance. And without giving too much away, all I will just say is that there will be many horses involved, if you choose the Great Train Robbery ride. This was the longer ride that ends in a cookout! Tons of fun and the food after was catered to us and was absolutely AMAZING! (Highly Recommended)  Book your seat here: Tickets!

Guests have the opportunity to book tickets in the vintage passenger coach or open air car. When I went last year, we choose the open air car. And I am glad we did, because it was hot that day and the breeze that came into the train was very nice. If you are choosing the open air car, I suggestion bringing warm clothes just the same. In case the weather changes, you do want to catch a chill.

Lively music and historical commentary complete the railway adventure. If you end up going, I would love to hear about your experience. But please don’t give to much away in the comments below. Makes things more special for my readers to experience something unexpected.
