Most Popular Canadian Food

I have compiled a list from my blog of the Most Popular Canadian Food the “Traditional Canadian food”. Such as Bannock to Butter Tarts to Beef Barley Stew. Then we have the popular Poutine and Tourtière which are French Canadian foods. I will be adding to this list over the coming months to include more recipes like Nanaimo bars, Saskatoon berry pie, Lobster rolls and Bloody Caesars.

This list goes back hundreds of years, however today this list has evolved to include recipes from around the World. You can find a diverse set of recipes from this site by simply going to the search bar on this site. So without further ado here is my list of recipes from the most popular Canadian food.

TRADITIONAL CANADIAN FOOD

I have to start this post with Canada’s National food dish. Which is the Poutine!

  1. Most Popular food in Canada > The Poutine

The Poutine hails from Quebec, Canada and is fresh French fries covered in cheese curds which are then smothered in a hot beef gravy that helps to melt the cheese.

2. Canadian Butter Tarts

These Canadian Butter Tarts are made with just a few simple ingredients and has become our go to recipe.

3. Maple Candied Bacon

Maple Candied Bacon can be made in the oven or in your air fryer. And is made with a few simple ingredients. That of Maple Syrup, Brown Sugar and Bacon of course.

4. Cherry Slushies

I have added Cherry Slushies to this list as I think it should be here, don’t you? Canada is one of the largest producers of Lambert Cherries and these cherries has been grown in the Pacific Northwest for over almost 150 years. Me and my family love to enjoy them all summer long and have for decades.

5. Fried Bannock

This Traditional Fluffy Fried Bannock Recipe is super easy to make and an excellent breakfast or snack food that is ready in less than 15 minutes.

6. Canadian Tourtiere

This Best Tourtiere Recipe also know as Tourtiere de Maman is a Canadian meat pie that is spiced. And is the perfect recipe to accompany your holiday festivities.

7. Beef Barley Stew

Stay tunes to this post as the list will grow and evolve.

Thank you for reading and feel free to share, enjoy!

Much love,

March – detox, cleanse, and new beginnings.

It’s March first, and tonight we will see a full moon = worm moon. Which signifies the start of Spring, which has me thinking about spring cleaning and fresh starts. It’s a time to flush things out of your system as a lunar cycle completes itself. Hopefully most of those nasty things such as the cold and flu have passed us now, and we can focus on not only cleaning house but also cleaning and rebooting our systems. The spring equinox is on March 20th 2018 and so I will be dedicating the whole month of March to detoxifying and doing an internal spring cleaning. I hope you will join me!

This full moon = worm moon gets it name from Native Americans. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, around this time the ground begins to soften enough for earthworm casts to reappear, inviting the return of robins and migrating birds and the start of spring makes way 🙂

Spring is right around the corner and it’s time to clean out the winter gunk and reboot our systems the healthy way. I will be creating and sharing 3x times per week during the month of MARCH whole food recipes. By removing all high fat, high sugar, high salt meals and removing all processed foods and replacing them with solely whole and plant based ingredients.

My food philosophy most my life has been everything in moderation, with a strong emphasis on real food, by eating less processed foods. With that being said I also like to balance that with eating a vegetarian diet at least 3 times a week and doing a full body detox four times a year from anywhere from 3-7 days.  If you can’t handle four per year, you can do at least two in the fall and spring. Detoxing gives the body a chance to naturally detox itself without causing harm.

BENEFITS:

Natural Detoxifying helps many people to lose weight and feel more energized and refreshed.  By removing high fat, high sugar, high salt, and processed foods from our diets we can cleanse our bodies the healthy way. And to help with that, I will be sharing 3x recipes each week throughout the month of March that will aide in this process.

~

By doing this, you really don’t have to worry about starving yourself rather you just have to focus on cleaning unhealthy types of foods from your system.

Today, March 1st. I’m sharing my Roasted Garlic recipe, this natural food not only wards of vampires, it also has super strong natural antibiotics that can kill most infections if used properly. So why not bake up a batch and eat this over the first week of march.

Restaurant Review – Mexican Dinners

Jay thought he was gonna go for a few tacos until he saw the waitress pass our table with an Amazing looking dish which turned out to be an Enchiladas.

So he quickly changed his mind and ordered the Tequila Citrus Chicken lime cilantro crema, pear salsa enchilada.  His eyes were bigger than his stomach though as he only was able to finish one, it was such a large portion he ended up taking the other half home.

Tacos are my favorite Mexican food and so I choose the Spicy Coconut Prawn, with chili, mango coleslaw. And the Adobo Pork  roasted red pepper, pineapple salsa taco. Both on there 6″ inch soft tortillas.

I knew immediately that this was one of the best Fish taco I have ever had. It was a little on the sweet side and if you know me I don’t like sweet food very much, but the waitress assured me that I could spice it up if need be. And all i can say is OMG…. this taco was out of this world once I added the spice. I just wish it was BIGGER!! I would have ordered 3 if i knew it was this good!! Just look at the fish in this thing, soooo tasty.

The pulled pork was good but after tasting the prawn taco I could not enjoy it as much and just wanted all prawn.

You can taste the freshness in all these dishes. A very authentic and unique place that we will be returning to again when we are in the area.
