Steamed Mussels Recipe
These Steamed Mussels are cooked in a creamy vegetable stock and served with fresh lemon wedges in less than 10 minutes!
The mussels are steamed right on the stove in a medium saucepan.
And can be enjoyed as an appetizer or as the main course!
I just love making mussels at home, it is much cheaper than ordering at the restaurants too!
And really in this time in history who really wants to dine in anyway?
I don’t. I mean I do. But i prefer not to catch the virus that is lurking (eeeekkkk)
Back to the food, awww mussels.

I just love seafood and mussels are defiantly one of those favorite seafoods that I love to cook with.
These mussels here are cooked in a basic red wine and tomato sauce that is sure to be a hit with those you love.
HOW TO COOK STEAMED MUSSELS RED WINE
- Start with fresh mussels and place them into a colander in the sink and rince them all under cold water, scrub with a vegetable brush to remove any dirt.
- Discard any with broken shells.
- In a large saucepan, heat your butter.
- Saute the onions, garlic and thyme.
- Add in the mussels and give them stir.
- Add white wine, chicken broth, lemon juice.
- Cover the pot and steam over medium-high for 5 minutes until the mussels open.
- Toss any mussels that do not open, as their not good to eat.
- Toss in the parsley and butter, recover the lid. Steaming for another minute.
- Serve with some crusty bread for dipping and enjoy!
Serve these mussels with some garlic toast or onto a bed of your favorite pasta.
Oh and don’t forget the fresh lemon it really helps enhance this dish.
