IS WONTON SOUP HEALTHY
Yes, this soup is healthy and is excellent served on a cold day or even if your feeling under the weather.
WHAT MAKES WONTON SOUP SPICY
The chili oil my friends, simply add 1 tbsp or tsp depending on your taste preference of Chinese Chili oil to the soup base and it will kick it up a whole notch.
My favorite Chinese Chili Oil is seen below and can be found in most Asian isle in your local grocery store.
You can add vegetables to this soup if desired such as:
- Broccoli
- Carrots
- Bok Choy
- Mushrooms
- Etc
HOW TO MAKE WONTON SOUP
- Your going to want to start with a good Chicken or Vegetable broth. You can of course use something as simple as Campbells Chicken stock, however it won’t tastes as authentic so I highly recommending a pre-made bone chicken broth for this recipe if you are wanting a restaurant quailty broth.
- This soup is made by handmaking the wontons and typically those wontons shells are pre-made by a machine and can be bought in almost any Asian market.
- Then that shell is filled with some simple ingredients before they are stuffed and rolled. Once that process is complete they are added to a pot of boiling water to cook or added to soup stock to cook
- Keep in mind the vegetables need only mins to cook, so if your adding any add them near the last 5 minutes of the cooking process.
PORK WONTON RECIPE
This recipe is super simple to make as it uses pre-made wonton wrappers.
Which simply need to be lightly wet before stuffing with a homemade minced pork mixture. That is then hand wrapped and ready to be cooked in a hot broth of your choosing. You can find the entire recipe at the bottom of this post.
