This post has been sponsored by Maple Lifestyle, a Canadian Maple Syrup brand that is based Crystal Beach, Ontario. An area known to produce some of the finest maple syrups in the World.
Now, I have tried a lot of maple syrups in my day and after trying this brand.
I can honestly say they stand above the rest.
They have an array of other maple syrup products, however they sell 3 unique Maple Syrups.
One being a Dark Syrup, Amber Syrup, and Bourbon Syrup.
You can find them all for sale here: Maple Lifestyle Syrups!
It is fun to try them all and see the subtle differences. In my household, we all agreed that the bourbon was super special.
As it has a much deeper, rich taste that comes from the being aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. Which has notes of caramel, toffee, vanilla and charred oak.
However, when it comes to cooking certain dishes like these Pork Chops with Apples and onions, I would recommend using their Amber or Dark syrup.
And for this recipe, I went with their Amber Syrup and it was divine!
This dish is so elegant yet inexpensive and is sure to impress!
Pork Chops with Maple Syrup and Apples
These are super easy to make as this whole recipe, contains just a few simple ingredients.
Such as bone in pork chops, maple syrup, gala apples, onions and some special seasonings.
This one pan dish can be on the table in under 30 minutes!
How is that for a quick yet fancy fall meal!
CAN YOU USE ANY KIND OF PORK CHOP
Absolutely! Any kind of porkchop will work for this recipe. Such as bone in pork chops, pork loin or ribs.
I used bone in pork chops, that were about 1 1/2 inches thick. I prefer thinner chops for this recipe.
However thicker will work well too, just make sure you are cooking them a bit longer.
HOW TO MAKE MAPLE GLAZED PORK CHOPS
- First you will want to start with a good pan. I like my cast iron as it sears the chops perfectly.
- Place the pork chops into the pan and season with salt, pepper and some poultry seasoning.
- Sear on one side for roughly 6-7 minutes per side. If your chop is thinner the time may be less and thicker more!
- Once the chops have browned nicely, remove from the pan.
- In the same pan, add in the diced gala apples, sliced onion and 2 tbsp of maple syrup.
- Saute all together till the apples and onions are soft.
- Then add the nutmeg. Toss to coat, and remove from the pan.
- Lastly add 2 tbsp of water to the pan along with 3 tbsp of maple syrup.
- Simmer on low heat, adding in the pork chops, flip once to coat them.
- Add back in the apples and onions and simmer one more minute.
- Serve and enjoy!
HOW TO PAN FRY PORK CHOPS
The trick to cooking the best pan fried pork chops is to use a good cast iron pan, because you are going to want to sear them.
The second trick is to season the pork chops generously prior to cooking.
If you follow those two tips alone you are sure to prepare the best pork chops ever.
These chops can be done on the grill as well. I’ll leave them up to you!
Have you already started to picture your dinner tonight yet?
I like to serve these pork chops with a side of mash potatoes and or some kind of vegetable. Such as these Bourbon Maple Glazed Carrots, which can be made in your instant pot or on the stove top!
