Pan Fried Calamari Recipe
With this Pan Fried Calamari Recipe you can have restaurant style Chinese squid stir fry on the table in not time!
Try this dish alongside my Mushroom Fried Rice or Chinese Chicken Broccoli to make for a larger meal.
This Pan Fried Squid is sautéed with onions and yellow bell peppers as well and comes in a oyster/soya sauce that your going to love.
Serve alongside rice if desired. Tender squid that is savory and ready in under 20 minutes!
You can also use whole squid as I have for this recipe, or pre-cut prepped squid.
HOW TO COOK SQUID STIR FRY
- Heat a large wok or pan over high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon sesame oil to the wok.
- Add in the diced yellow pepper and onion.
- Sauté for 2 minutes, so that the vegetables are still somewhat crispy. Remove and set aside.
- Add 1 more tbsp of sesame oil to the work and add in the garlic and squid.
- Sauté 1 minute before adding in the “pre-made” sauce.
- Toss back in the vegetables and simmer on medium heat all together for 2 minutes then serve.
Other vegetables that you can use alongside or in replace of the red pepper are as follows:
- Celery
- Broccoli
- Chinese broccoli
- Water chestnuts

Pan Fried Calamari Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb squid (cleaned)
- 1 large yellow pepper, diced
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- PRE- MADE SAUCE
- 1 tsp corn starch mixed with 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp of sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp of oyster sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cut the squid diagonal then horizontally across to create a criss-cross pattern and cut into 1 inch strips.
- Heat a large wok over high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon sesame oil to the wok.

- Saute for 2 minutes, so that the vegetables are still somewhat crispy. Remove and set aside.
