Nova Scotia Seared Scallops recipe

Easy Sea Scallop Recipe

WHERE TO GET NOVA SCOTIA SCALLOPS

Nova Scotia Scallops mostly come from Digby Nova, Scotia however you can find them now across Canada at your local superstore in the frozen isle. See the product below for reference!

Me and my son spent some time This past summer in Digby, Nova Scotia. And I can tell you that the scallops from here are divine. There large, sweet and savory!

Here is a picture below of one of the little towns near by, you can access it from the mainland or you can take a ferry from New Brunswick right into the Digby area. We went there to do some exploring but mostly whale watching as it is pretty remote and great for seeing all kinds of whales!

They sell the scallops in almost every restaurant out there, but I was on a mission to make them at home and that inspired this recipe for you today!

Sometimes you have to indulge once in a while. Am I right? Digby scallops are the perfect indulgent I would say.

WHAT ARE DIGBY SCALLOPS

  • They are a soft and sweet scallop that is harvested right in the Bay of Fundy, in Digby Nova Scotia Canada.

This dish is one of those recipes, where you can simply go to your local fish market or store and whip up a delicious meal in under 10 minute’s! Easy, fresh and is so memorable.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH SCALLOPS

Potatoes, side salad or any other type of seafood.

HOW TO COOK SCALLOPS

  • You will want to start with fresh or frozen scallops
  • Then you will want to defrost them if needed and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • This ensures that there is no water left on them that will take away from the dish.
  • Then in a hot pan add a little cooking oil to prevent the butter from burning
  • Toss in the butter to melt
  • Add the scallops and season
  • Sear on each side till no longer tranlucent (over medium heat)

WHAT ARE SCALLOPS

Scallops are bivalves (having two shells), like clams and oysters.

My favorite way to enjoy scallops is right here!
