Best Sushi Rice Recipe

You can use your sushi rice to make any of the following California Sushi Roll or Dragon Roll

WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS RECIPE

Because it is the only recipe that you will need to use when it comes to making either sushi at home or Onigiri type recipes. Which will save you a ton of money since making this type of food at home is very inexpensive in compared to take-out-sushi.

THIS RECIPE WILL MAKE 6-8 SUSHI ROLLS

SUSHI RICE VINEGAR RATIO

The 4:2:1 “Golden Ratio” (For the Vinegar Mixture) 

THE BEST SUSHI RICE VINEGAR IS MADE IN JAPAN

We always use Japanese Sushi Rice Vinegar, known as sushizu (すし酢)  as seen below

SUSHI RICE VINEGAR SUBSITUTE

  • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
  • WHITE VINEGAR

How to Make Sushi Rice recipe

  • Start by rinsing off your sushi rice 3x till the water turns clear. Sushi rice is very starchy and you do not need all that starch in order to make it sticky!
  • Then once it is rinsed, cover with 3 inches of water and allow the rice cooker to cook it
  • Once cooked, toss to cool down and add your sushi rice vinegar and toss a few times to coat all the rice
  • Next sprinkle in 1/2 tbsp white sugar and toss and do the same for the other side of the rice
  • Place the rice in a stainless steel bowl and allow it to chill fully before using
  • You just created the best homemade sushi rice

You can make ruffly 6- 8 sushi rolls with this rice recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups sushi rice
  • 3 tbsp sushi vinegar
  • 1 tbsp white sugar

Instructions

  1. Start by rinsing off your sushi rice 3x till the water turns clear. Sushi rice is very starchy and you do not need all that starch in order to make it sticky!
  2. Then once it is rinsed, cover with 3 inches of water and allow the rice cooker to cook it
  3. Once cooked, toss to cool down and add your sushi rice vinegar and toss a few times to coat all the rice
  4. Do the same with the white sugar and toss well
  5. Place the rice in a stainless steel bowl and allow it to chill fully before using
  6. You just created the best homemade sushi rice

Notes

You can make ruffly 8 sushi rolls with this rice recipe. Feel free to half it to make 4 rolls!

We always make enough for sushi for a few days!
