MARRY ME CHICKEN VS TUSCAN CHICKEN

The only difference between these two popular dishes is that Marry Me Chicken uses “Red Pepper Flakes” and some “Tomato paste” . I typically omit both as I much prefer the sun-dried tomatoes and chicken / cream / parmesan flavors to dominate the dish.

WHAT DOES MARRY ME CHICKEN ORZO TASTE LIKE

It tastes a lot like Tuscan Chicken which is a Sicilian Italian dish. Which has seasoned chicken cooked in a creamy chicken cream broth along with spinach or basil and sun dried tomatoes or fresh baby tomatoes / tomato paste and of course parmesan cheese and lemons.

HOW TO MAKE MARRY ME CHICKEN ORZO

  • To make this recipe, you will want to make the sauce first then add the pasta last!
  • In order to make the sauce you will want to start with seasoned chicken pieces or breasts which ever you prefer. And sautĂ© that in some butter/olive oil till well cooked.
  • Shred the chicken with a fork and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, add in more butter to the pan and sautĂ© the onions, garlic till translucent
  • Then only adding in the chicken stock, cream and parmesan cheese
  • Lastly add in the spinach and sun dried tomatoes and cook on low-medium heat “COVERED” for 5 minutes before adding in the orzo pasta
  • Add back in the cooked shredded chicken
  • Cover that and simmer on low-medium heat for 3 minutes till the orzo is cooked
  • Squeeze some fresh lemon juice over and more parmesan if desired and enjoy!

NOTE: If you want more of a sauce to this pasta, simply add more heavy cream!

You can make this recipe with fresh or frozen spinach. Both work well, I prefer frozen in which I will pre-cook and strain out all the liquid prior to adding it to this recipe. Also, some people like to add tomato paste to this dish. I prefer not, as i find the sun-dried tomatoes give the best tomato flavor and the dish is really highlighted more by the creamy chicken cheese sauce instead.
