Now that I am a mom, I’m always looking for super simple weekday meals that can feed my family. The nice thing about this recipe, is that it really is a set it and forget it meal. Then once your ready to eat, simply make some instant potatoes, potatoes or rice on the side and a vegetable such as green beans, corn or broccoli and dinner is served!
This meal can be made with any cut of chicken, from drumsticks to thighs or even breasts. Today, I used thighs with the skin on. I have used all types of chicken and all works well for this recipe. If you are using just breasts, you can also shred it with a fork for a more shredded chicken dish over a starch of your choosing.
How to Make Easy 3 ingredient Crockpot Shredded Chicken and Gravy
- Simply place your flour on the bottom of the crock pot then chicken breasts.
- Then in a medium bowl add the canned gravy and stir in slowly one cup of water till blended (same process if your using powdered gravy however you will want more water.
- Mix in some pepper and then pour over the chicken breast.
- Slow cook for 6 hours then shred with a fork to serve
You can use frozen or fresh chicken breasts. 2 breasts serves a family of 4 easily, possibly 6
The three ingredients are flour, canned chicken gravy (or packaged gravy with water added according to package instructions) pepper and of course chicken breasts.
It is really that easy and is best served with a vegetable of your liking and rice or mashed potatoes. Now of course, you can also prepare pasta on the side such as orzo and that will go well also with this shredded chicken dinner.
If you are a family of two or three, prepare for leftovers. Simply, store the remaining shredded chicken and gravy in a sealable container or bag to enjoy the following day!
