Baked Salmon Mac and Cheese Pasta

WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS RECIPE

My Baked Salmon Mac and Cheese Pasta serves 2 people easily, and is a delicious weeknight or weekend meal that is ready in under 30 minutes.

You can use a larger salmon fillet if desired as well or a couple to the baking process. Depending on your personal preferences.

HOW LONG TO BOIL PASTA FOR BAKED MAC AND CHEESE

Simply, boil for 3-5 minutes until the pasta is slightly (al dente) and a bit firm as you do not want to have mushy pasta once cooked. Then you can bake it for 20 minutes to serve!

WHAT PASTA TO USE FOR BAKED MAC AND CHEESE

You can use the more traditional pasta such as elbow macaroni, or any type really. Such as smaller seashell pasta or bowtie as I have for this recipe.

WHAT IS IN THIS BAKED SALMON PASTA (5 simple ingredients)

  • Salmon
  • Gouda Cheese
  • Vegetable stock
  • Milk
  • Seasonings

How To Make Baked Salmon Mac and Cheese Pasta

  • Start by brining a salted pot of water to a rapid boil, turn down to medium heat and cook the pasta till semi soft. Roughly 3-5 minutes and strain and set aside.
  • Next add half the butter and oil to a heated skillet and sauté the diced onion till transparent, next add in the minced garlic and sauté till fragrant roughly one minute.
  • Season one fresh salmon fillet with Italian seasonings salt and pepper. Next, add the cooked onions and garlic to a small baking dish, along with semi cooked pasta, vegetable stock, heavy cream, Dijon mustard and remaining seasonings to taste.
  • Mix well before adding in the shredded gouda cheese and mix well.
  • Top the pasta with more shredded gouda cheese, before placing a fresh seasoned salmon fillet on-top. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350F for 40 minutes.
  • Top with parmesan cheese if desired and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups bowtie pasta
  • 1 salmon fillet
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups of shredded Gouda Cheese
  • 1/2 onion
  • 2 minced garlic
  • SEASONINGS
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Italian seasonings
