The trick to making the rice like something you would order as takeout is to cook the rice the day prior. You will find the remaining directions in the recipe card below!

Yes, HOWEVER be sure to cook the shrimp the day you want to eat it vs freezing the shrimp once cooked as it won’t be as good as freshly made.

Shrimp Fried Rice Recipe Authentic
Skip the take out!
Ingredients
- 3 cups One Day Old "Cooked Rice"
- 10 large de-shelled shrimp
- 3 tbsp Vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp Sesame oil
- 2 large Eggs
- 2 cups Frozen mixed vegetables peas, and carrots
- 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp Medium Soya sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Onion powder
Instructions
- In a small bowl whisk together the soy and oyster sauce and set aside.
- In a large, nonstick skillet add 1 tbsp of sesame oil and the fresh de-shelled shrimp. Sauté over medium till cooked through.
- Remove the shrimp then set aside.
- Next in the same pan add the cooking oil and the day old rice, sauté for a few minutes till the rice is fully heated and a bit crispy. Then remove the rice and set aside.
- Then in the same pan add 1 tbsp of sesame oil and 2 beaten eggs. Scramble them and chop them up finely with a spatula while cooking. Remove the eggs and set aside.
- Toss in the frozen vegetables along with all the seasonings, then add back in the rice and eggs and shrimp.
- Fry everything together for about 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
