I was in Washington some years back on a roundtrip and tried this very dish and loved it. 

Did some research and found the recipe and wulla! It is now here for you to try.

IS JAMAICAN BLACK PEPPER SHRIMP SPICY

Yes, this recipe is spicy and sweet, it somewhat spicy from the scotch bonnet peppers and also sweet from the brown sugar and molasses.

Jamaican Black Pepper Shrimp Cheesecake Factory Recipe

  • Start with defrosted peeled and deveined uncooked shrimp
  • Then pat dry
  • In a medium sized bowl add in some cornstarch and flour
  • Along with cayenne pepper, black pepper, thyme and salt
  • Toss all together then add in the shrimp and toss to coat, shake any excess flour mixture off and set aside.
  • Meanwhile in a large pot add in the chicken stock, minced garlic, scotch bonnet peppers, beer, Worcestershire sauce, molasses and stir everything well.
  • Bring to medium heat and stir for 3 minutes before adding in the brown sugar and butter.
  • Continue to allow the sauce to thicken then add in the coated shrimp and cook for 5 minutes or until the shrimp has cooked.
  • Serve alongside rice, beans, fruit and or cooked plantains. 
  • Enjoy!

You can also serve this alongside Quinoa instead of rice it works really well too!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound peeled and deveined Shrimp
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Thyme
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Sauce
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1/2 cup Black Molasses
  • 1 cup of Beer
  • 1 1/2 tsp Jerk Seasoning
  • 1 tsp minced scotch bonnet pepper
  • 4 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 4 minced Garlic
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
