This is the Best Steak Recipe you may ever try, I used a Rib Eye steak and marinaded in overnight in the fridge to tenderize it. Then it is fried on the stove-top in a cast iron skillet to perfection.
This recipe works very well served alongside some fresh Sauteed Asparagus.
This is a take on one of Gordon Ramseys famous steak recipe with a few variations that make it my favorite steak recipe.
I like to treat my family to this type of steak ever so often. I mean you could always go to an expensive steakhouse and order something similar to this dish and pay triple the price. But no, not me. I much prefer it homemade and trust me it is much better!
RIB EYE STEAK MARINADE
The secret to the best marinade is to tenderize the steak overnight in it. But in what you ask? Well you must start with a good quality balsamic vinegar. You can use any kind, however I highly recommend the one below.
It has figs in it and gives a element of sweetness that is mellowed down by the rosemary, garlic and red pepper chili flakes.
BEST TENDERIZING STEAK MARINADE
Uses cooking oil and balsamic vinegar
Best Steak Marinade recipe with balsamic vinegar
- In a zip lock bag add all your ingredients, then the steak
- Toss well to coat and place in the fridge to Marinade overnight or for a minimum four hours.
- Be sure to save the butter for sauteing the steak
BEST STEAK MARINADE
In a plastic bag add 6 halves garlic cloves, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 2 tbsp of rosemary, 2 tbsp no salt butter, 2 tbsp cooking oil, 2 tbsp dark balsamic vinegar (FRESCOLIO) Fig is my favorite, 2 tbsp soya sauce, 1/4 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp chili pepper flakes.
I dropped the sugar and salt which Gordon Ramsey uses and note I used (FRESCOLIO) FIG Dark balsamic vinegar
HOW TO COOK RIBEYE STEAK IN A PAN
Use lots of butter and make sure it is a cast iron pan! The steak will come out amazing! I like to cook my steak over medium – high heat on each side for 8 minutes. Time will vary according to your liking! This makes the rib eye steak, well done.
HOW TO COOK THE BEST STEAK
Save the butter for sauteing the steak the more butter the better!
Start with a greased CAST IRON SKILLET this is the key to having a perfectly seared steak, restaurant style.
In that skillet add 2 tbsp of butter and the pre-marinade steak
The other steak cuts I like to use for this recipe are:
- Ribeye
- Fillet or Strip
- T-Bone
These steak can be served rare, medium rare or medium well done.
- Strip steak is best served medium rare, in order to cook it that way you will want to sear it for 4-7 minutes on one side then flip it over once and sear it for another 3 minutes on the other.
- If you prefer your steak medium done, then you will want to sear it for 5-8 minutes on one side and 3-4 on the other.
- And always let your steak sit off the heat for 5 minutes to rest before serving!
