Plus, they are packed full of  protein, as well are a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, zinc and folate.

Making them a very healthily meal option.

Baked mussels are pre cooked mussels that are then baked in the oven for the remaining time to finish off the dish and give it a better taste.

Easy Maple Soy Glazed Salmon

These Mussels are Baked in a Creamy tomato sauce that is topped with mozzarella cheese.

Baked Mussel Recipe

Yield: 3

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds mussels, scrubbed and debearded
  • 1 cup of Italian tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
  • Pinch black pepper
  • Pinch salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F/200C. 
  2. Scrub the mussels, removing any dirt and hairy bit, clean and discard any that are broken.
  3. Put the mussels in a pot with the water, cover and put on a medium-high heat for a couple minutes until they open up.
  4. Discard any mussels that have not opened.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small bowl mix together the passata tomato sauce, parsley, garlic powder, oregano powder and olive oil.
  6. Place the mussels into a baking dish and top with the sauce, stirring to coat the mussels.
  7. Top with fresh parmesan cheese. 
  8. Bake the mussels for approx 10 minutes till the cheese melts. 
  9. Enjoy!
