It contains a few key spices such as Cumin, Black Pepper, Red Chili, Clove, Brown Cardamom, Cinnamon, Green Cardamom, Garlic, Ginger and Salt.

Authentic Chana Masala recipe

Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large can of chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup of ghee/butter/oil
  • 1/2 cup vegetable stock
  • 1 tbsp chana masala powder
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 tsp tomato paste

Instructions

  1. Place the ghee/butter/oil either or of the frying ingredients will work in a pot
  2. Fry the diced onion till golden brown then add in the tomato paste and fry for a couple mins before adding in the spice mix
  3. Fry the spice mix till fragrant then add in a can of strained chickpeas
  4. Add in the veggie stock
  5. Cover and simmer on low-medium heat for 25 mins to serve.
